HIGHWAYS is located at 155 Broadway (corner of 5th Street), directly across from Trinity Church. It is the headquarters of our social services programs, housing our Food Pantry and social services outreach programs. In addition to serving as an emergency food bank throughout the year, we also provide Thanksgiving food baskets. In the fall, we operate a Backpack Program to help low income families meet the challenge of providing their children with back-to-school supplies. In December, we collect and distribute toys to children.
The Thrift Store is an adjunct to our social services activities, offering low cost clothing and home goods. The store is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. The store is also open on the first Saturday of each month, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
We rely on donations of new or gently used items to stock our store. They can be donated whenever the store is open. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ITEMS OUTSIDE WHEN THE STORE IS CLOSED.
Please note that our new location on Broadway is much smaller than our old location on Hobart Avenue. Because of that, we are no longer able to accept furniture, electronics or books. However, if you do have furniture you wish to donate, we can refer you to our friends at NJ Food and Clothing Rescue who help those displaced from their homes by fire and other natural disasters.
